This study is important because the formula used to calculate Body Mass Index (BMI) includes height and weight. This study will help us find out if height do play a part in affecting BMI and thus, understand the relationship between height and BMI.
Rationalize why you choose your variables:
BMI is a constructed variable because it cannot be observed directly but must be calculated from observable variables, namely mass (weight) and height. Body Mass Index can be calculated by dividing a person's weight (in kilograms) by the square of their height (in metres)
Dependent variable: BMI
Independent variable: Height
Extraneous variables: Brand and type of weighing machine (AIBI Digital), type of clothing worn, duration/time period of the day (after lunch, evening etc.)
What is the hypothesis?
Research hypothesis: There is a relationship between a person’s BMI and his height.
Null hypothesis: There is no relationship between a person’s BMI and his height.
